Wimborne Minster wins national recognition

<< back to news

Wimborne Minster has been awarded a Silver Gilt in the RHS Britain in Bloom UK Finals at the recent Awards ceremony.

Said Wimborne in Bloom Chairman Richard Nunn, “We have won a Silver Gilt in the Small Town category, the winners were Ahoghill, in Ulster.

This is thanks to the united efforts of committee members, volunteers and supporters and we are proud that, once again, Wimborne has achieved national recognition.

He added, “The comments contained in the report glowed for Wimborne, highlighted points were The Jubilee Garden, The Green Man, the Tourist Information Centre, Model Town, Priests House Museum, the Hanham Road underpass wall wrap and Redcotts Recreaton Ground receiving special mentions.

The report was very complimentary on the ‘remarkable working partnership with the Wimborne BID and the Town Council’ for which Wimborne in Bloom are proud to be an integral member.  This partnership and the fund raising initiatives identified Wimborne in Bloom’s approach as unique and he finished by stating, “We will not be resting on our laurels, the work goes on and this week will see the removal of the hanging baskets and the Autumn replanting around the Town.”

Ian Faulkner Chairman of the Wimborne BID said, “The BID is delighted that Wimborne in Bloom’s efforts have been rewarded.  The work that they do in keeping the town clean, tidy and attractive is key to the positive experience of our visitors, whether they are for coming for shopping, business, dining or culture - the BID is proud to support them and will continue to do so.”
